All the more reason to share as much as possible, combine with other sports to synchronize events and spread costs.

Samoa will soon face the harsh reality that they are not good enough...

NZ had a 3-1 win over Fiji in the opening match.  Not "too" difficult - but they needed a penalty kick to make sure of the win.  I think the Solomons and Vanuatu might test NZ (in that NZ might win by 1 goal in one of these games).  It would be nice to see another smaller team win the tournament - in particular, I would like to see New Caledonia playing in the Confederations Cup in Russia.

Tahiti 3-0 Samoa after 15 minutes.  I think Samoa forgot to wake out of their dream of taking points.

So, Vanuatu eliminated from World Cup qualifying in 4th place out of 4 teams on goal difference. If head-to-head record had been the decider, Vanuatu would have finished 2nd, and Solomon Islands would have been eliminated. So, Vanuatu were thus penalised for being less defensive against New Zealand.

Similar story in the other group. And was Samoa paid to start with a goalkeeper with no caps prior the match?

It's reminds me of the "tragic" error from the AC Milan's goalkeeper Dida in a 2000/01 Champions League match in Leeds, as you can see admiring the following video at minute 0:14

So, Papua New Guinea into the final. Their best performance before this year was 6th place in 1980.

6 qualifiers for next stage of World Cup qualifying:
New Zealand
Papua New Guinea
New Caledonia
Solomon Islands
Tahiti
Fiji

Incidentally, before this tournament, FIFA rankings for Oceania
1: New Zealand
2=: American Samoa (What?)
2=: Cook Islands (What?)
2=: Samoa (What?)
5: Solomon Islands
6: Tahiti
7: New Caledonia
8: Vanuatu
9: Fiji
10: Papua New Guinea
11: Tonga

Samoa were ranked higher than all teams in their group, and lost 0-4, 0-7 and 0-8.

Of course, this is a product of the "OFC Nations Cup qualifiers" giving points to American Samoa, Cook Islands and Samoa. But, really, what is the point in having such a ranking of teams that clearly does not represent anything even approaching reality?

As a result of their "shock" 8-0 win over Samoa, Papua New Guinea will get 319 points!

what a poor showing of New Zealand; they do not deserve to win, just playing to defend....
PNG: brave team but lack of talent in the frontline...
