I've read in a paraguayan newspaper that currently there is a "Futsal World Cup" organized by the AMF (Asociacion Mundial de Futsal).
The World Cup is held in Colombia (only in Spanish)
Interesting to see, that Catalunya and South Ossetia were competing..
Did you hear about this confederation once, mcruic? I think, it's necessary to put his results also in the Roon Ba archive, what do you think?
Yes, there are 2 bodies running futsal - AMF and FIFA. AMF uses the original rules formerly used by FIFUSA. FIFA attempted to bring all the forms of football under its own rules, and took futsal and beach soccer and changed the rules (size of the ball, unlimited substitutions, etc.).
However, some countries were not happy, and continued to play under AMF rules. So, in South American countries, for example, we have 2 national teams for futsal - one playing under AMF rules and one playing under FIFA rules. Clearly, FIFA's competitions are now a lot more popular, simply because of the financial power of FIFA.
It's difficult to include the results of both versions of the game - they are played with different rules - and so I've chosen the one that is most popular worldwide.
