Puerto Rico are planning to play friendlies against Kenya in New York and Ethiopia in Miami. I think they will play early next year. Puerto Rico will play with a lot of U-23 players to form the basis of a new national team.

PR statehood is not gonna happen. PR cannot be admitted to the union as they don't use English. President Obama already spoke against statehood as well. It's just a hypothetical situation..

The referendum resulted in 53.9% of voters voting against maintaining the political status, and 61.9% opting for Statehood if status is to be changed.

If this implies Puerto Rico will become USA 51th state, it is logical Puerto Rico will lose its FIFA membership.

A same kind of situation occured when former East-Germany joined the Federal Republic of Germany in 1990 (aka West-Germany and - from 1990 on Germany). East-Germany lost its FIFA membership. In 1956 when Saar rejoined (West) Germany they lost FIFA-membership too.

Puerto Rico will have the same status as Alaska and Hawaii. Or as i.e. California, Texas, Iowa or Colorado.
