Suriname are planning a 3-team tournament from 13-20 October (Suriname, French Guiana and China) to celebrate 160 years of Chinese immigration.  China is playing Indonesia on 15th October, so they might send a youth team (Suriname FA says even the U-20 team would be fine).

Suriname also plan to celebrate Javanese immigration with a friendly against Indonesia in August 2014.

How poor the level of the Surinamese football is nowadays! Nevertheless there was a period, in the 1970s and 1980s, when it was among the most competitive "schools" in CONCACAF, at least at club level. SV Transvaal were continental champions in 1973 and 1981 and runners-up in 1974, 1975 and 1986, while SV Robinhood were runners-up in 1972, 1976, 1977, 1982 and 1983. Not bad at all for a country of only 500,000 inhabitants.
