On 5th March, I will conduct a 'fun' experiment. A World Cup of rankings (or better, a World League of rankings). The idea was inspired by a comparison I saw on CTR's ranking page.
All online ranking systems will be compared against each other for their prediction of all the 5th March matches (63 matches in total). Every ranking will be considered as a separate team, and all teams will play against each other once. 3 points will be given to the winner of each match, with 1 point for each team in the event of a draw.
Individual points within each match will be awarded as follows:
If BOTH rankings predict the same result (i.e. Team A wins), this match will be ignored.
If the actual result of the match is a draw, this match will also be ignored.
If one ranking predicts a win for Team A, and the other ranking predicts a win for Team B, then the ranking which matches the actual results gains a point.
So in summary - only matches which do not end in a draw (and have been predicted differently by the 2 rankings in question) will be considered.
I will post information on 6th March. Meanwhile, I will list all participants and fixtures here: http://theroonba.com/rankingworldleague.htm
As I said, just a bit of fun, and probably not entirely scientific.
As my rankings are still under development, The Roon Ba will enter a 'B' team in the competition rather than not participate. This will use the draft version of my rankings.
Each ranking will be judged based on the 4th March ranking (including the Iran v Kuwait match today). For rankings which are updated less regularly, the latest ranking before 5th March will be taken.
There are 11 ranking systems altogether, and 1 filler team called "Random" - this is a computer-generated random ordered list of all countries.
