The following pictures represent two historical moments for the Mexican football: the successes, respectively, in the 1965 Concacaf Championship and in the 1998 Gold Cup.

Although quality isn't very good, the following pictures are, in my opinion, definitely interesting. They show the triumph of Mexico at the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup.
That was the first and only time when a FIFA competition for "A" National teams was won by a country not belonging to the European/South American "duopoly".

El Fronterizo reviewed the official status of the Mexico national team matches listed by the FA (on their website, admittedly) in 2011, producing the following notes. Some of these will be obvious, some others have probably been discussed in this forum and we might even have reached a different conclusion (like the England B label in the 1969 match), so while a grain of salt is recommended, this list may provide some helpful pointers:

Some of those are not errors per se, but just inclusion of restrictive matches. Which is perfectly permitted, if an association wants to recognize them as A matches.
Similarly, the FIFA regulation that only the home team had to be the A team (while the away team could be a lower category) could be invoked to cover several of the above matches.

And of course, Mexico itself is no stranger to sending weakened teams to tournaments and counting the matches anyway.

These were CONCACAF qualifiers. Mexico fielded a B team, but did so also in the CONCACAF finals. So it would be more consistent to count all or none.

22-04-1970 Mexico           1 - 1    Romania* * Romania B 26-04-1970 Mexico           3 - 2    Romania* * Romania B
Scores should be vice versa. (3-2 on 22nd April)

17-01-1987 Mexico*          3 - 1    El Salvador * Mexico B
Date was 13th January 1987.

13-05-1987 Mexico*          5 - 0    Bermuda * Mexico Preolympic
Score was 6-0

Also at the 1984 Olympic Games qualifiers, Mexico were allowed to field their best squad, but preferred to employ a young side. And in fact they were knocked out by Canada.

Directly from my archive, an extremely rare and interesting picture showing the Mexican National team before facing the USA in a match valid for the 1934 World Cup qualification round.
The game was played in Rome, that's why they did the fascist salute.

I suppose they will employ that friendly as a warm-up for the Gold Cup, using the players who will not compete in the Confederations Cup.
