Interestingly, all fines for homophobic chants were incurred by Latin American countries (with Chile racking up 4 consecutive fines). Argentina, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay were given single 20,000 Swiss Franc fines, while Chile were given 70,000 Swiss Franc fines for the 4 separate incidents. So, FIFA thus earned 170,000 Swiss Francs (approx 156,000 Euro) due to homophobic chanting by Latin American fans - over 20% of the total collected in fines by FIFA.
Altogether, some 0.8 million Swiss Francs were earned through fines (approx 0.75 million Euro), with Jordan paying the heaviest fine (90,000 Swiss Francs) for infringements of media and marketing regulations.
