Just to add that later in the same year, after the South Pacific Games, the same paper reported that Tonga's rugby team should be in the Guinness Book of Records as "the only country in the world to beat five countries in a period of 11 days. The Tonga team defeated Western Samoa 18-10, Tahiti 74-0, Solomon Islands 92-3, New Caledonia 58-3, and Fiji 6-3."

And also:
Tonga's No. 8 Viliami Tu'ipulotu has equalled the international individual highest score of 24 points in a match. Viliami's recorded points came from 3 tries and 6 conversions against Solomon Islands at Suva on Saturday September 1 1979. [the paper then reiterates that this equals the record of Fergie McCormick quoted in the above article]
