Will be interesting to see the quality of these 2 new teams. The African Futsal Championship will play in Burkina Faso next year (another 'futsal virgin'), it would be nice to see more African countries start with futsal. Cape Verde, for example, must have a decent futsal team, and Ghana managed to draw with Egypt, in the first edition in 1996 but they haven't competed since.

At the moment, only 18 countries have played futsal in Africa out of 56, and it is the continent with the lowest percentage of futsal-playing nations.
In addition, Cape Verde and Djibouti have entered tournaments, but have withdrawn without playing.

NORTH AFRICA (5 countries, 100% participation)
Libya
Egypt
Tunisia
Algeria
Morocco

WEST AFRICA (3 countries)
Nigeria
Ghana (not since 1996)
Guinea-Bissau (new)

CENTRAL AFRICA (3 countries)
Cameroon
DR Congo (not since 1996, though they have an active AMF Futsal team)
São Tomé & Príncipe (new)

CECAFA (2 countries)
Sudan (not since 199
Somalia (not since 199

COSAFA (5 countries)
Mozambique
Angola
South Africa
Zambia
Zimbabwe (not since 1996)

Apparently there is also outdoor football at these games (not just futsal), does anyone know the team restriction rules?

I think Brazil have a chance to score 20 today against São Tomé & Príncipe. Guinea-Bissau seem to be at a higher level, and I think they will give Angola a better game.

Though I may have spoken too soon - the game kicked off a few minutes ago and São Tomé just equalised against Brazil, 1-1.

They lost 9-2. But still a good result against Brazil, even though it is their B team. It seems both Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé learned a lot from their first games, and both have now had better results.

I think it is great that someone else is actually interested in the result of the Guinea-Bissau v São Tomé & Príncipe futsal match. I predict a 5-2 win for Guinea-Bissau.

If you can find a bookie's in the UK that will give you any odds at all on the Futsal tournament of the Lusophone games, you'll be doing well

I'd be doing even better if I found a bookie's AND predicted the correct score ;-)

Guinea-Bissau 6-2 STP

STP finish with a record of 0-0-4, 5 goals for, 37 against.
Guinea-Bissau v Angola and Portugal v Brazil to complete the tournament tomorrow. Angola need a draw to secure 3rd, Brazil need a draw to win the championship.
