Everyone who have played both outdoor football and futsal can confirm these two sports are very different. Nevertheless at the end of the 1980s Hungary's futsal NT was one of the strongest sides in the world. Most of these players were outdoor football NT players as well!! Of course I understand futsal have made an enormous development over the past two decades. However, in a country as Suriname with a 475.000 population (the most recent info is in the Dutch wikipedia version) it is more possible sportsmen represent their country in two (or more) different sports as in an 10.000.000+ nation.

I am very pleased with these results. Great !!

I hope some people from Suriname or the large Surinamese society in Holland will be able to send some match details, in particular about disputed matches. Do they have i.e. info which Brazilian team they played in 1936 (I think this may be a club or regional side, but this is only guessing)? How about the 29-09-1954 match against Netherlands . As I wrote earlier: Dutch NT played the very same day in Nijmegen against German club side Rot-Weiß Essen. Or did Suriname played the match against Netherlands on another day?

Now about the name Dutch Guyana, which have never been the right name for Suriname. Dutch Guyana ceased to exist in 1814, see following Wikipedia article (unfortunately there is only a Dutch version). Suriname, Demerara, Essequibo and Berbice formed Dutch Guyana until 1814. From that moment on Demerara, Essequibo and Berbice became (British) Guyana. Suriname became Suriname.

Does anyone have the full data of this tournament:

In Groningen 1989, KNVB 100-jaar (?)

2-10-89 Antilles 2-2 Suriname
5-10-89 East Germany 6-0 Antilles (or 10-10)
5-10-89 Netherlands 2-0 Suriname
7-10-89 East Germany 3-0 Suriname (or 12-10)
-10-89 Netherlands 1-0 East Germany (or 8-10)

East Germany Olympic, Netherlands Olympic (or U21, same thing : U23 rules confirmed by FIFA and IOC on 31/8/1989). Mark said that SVB told him Suriname used Olympic team , maybe Antilles also.

Some remarkable facts about Dutch NT players who also played for Suriname, see following Wikipedia articles. The fact Edgar Davids played also for Suriname (in 2009) is only mentioned in the Dutch version, not in the English version. Jermain Lens, who recently won 4 caps for Netherlands, also played for Suriname.

Just a few corrections/additions:

17.06.1966 - Suriname 5-3 Jamaica 'B'

Jamaica's A team was playing in the Central American & Caribbean Games at the same time (As was Curaçao's).

??.??.1961 - Suriname 5-0 Jamaica never happened. This was a Rugby Union match - Jamaica 5-0 Guyana. Somewhere in history, the score got reversed, British Guiana was changed to Dutch Guiana, and the sport was even mixed up!

28.09.48 - Suriname v French Guiana was played in Paramaribo (part of the Copa Caribe)

11.06.1966 Trinindad & Tobago 3-2 Suriname (Coupe Duvalier in Haiti)
13.06.1966 Haiti 1-4 Suriname (Coupe Duvalier)
15.06.1966 Suriname 4-0 Guadeloupe (Coupe Duvalier in Haiti)
09.07.1978 Guyana 1-2 Suriname (CFU Qualifier)
30.07.1978 Suriname 2-0 Guyana (CFU Qualifier)
11.11.1979 Suriname 2-3 Saint Vincent & the Grenadines (CFU Finals)
05.03.1983 Barbados 1-0 Suriname (Olympics Qualifier)
08.03.1983 Barbados 0-0 Suriname (Olympics Qualifier)
??.03.1985 Suriname ?-? French Guiana (CFU Qualifier)
27.03.1985 Guyana 0-1 Suriname (CFU Qualifier)
12.05.1985 Suriname 0-0 Guadeloupe (CFU Qualifier)
27.06.1985 Martinique 2-0 Suriname (CFU Finals)
29.06.1985 Guadeloupe 2-2 Suriname (CFU Finals)

This sounds interesting, have you got this Pieter?

Have you got that book? Or someone else? I won't ask everything about but there is one thing I am - as a Dutchman - curious about. According Suriname FA on 29-09-1954 a match Suriname 2-9 Netherlands was played, but that cannot be possible because on the very same day Netherlands played against German club Rot-Weiß Essen (2-2). Is there such a score mentioned in the book related to a match Suriname played? Probably on 30-07-1958 in Paramaribo (in this case probably it was a Dutch youth team that beat Suriname 2-9, HT score was 0-8!)?.

There won't be any info about Clifton Sandvliet, who must have been 11-12 years when the bpook was issued. But please can you share some info about Humphrey Mijnals, the first ever Surinamese player to play for Netherrlands?

Not much about Humphrey: played with Robinhood in the 50's, with Elinkwijl (Eredivisie Nl) and in the national team of Netherlands...There is more about his father Stanley and also a few words about Frank, his brother
That is all....

How disappointing. Humphrey Mijnals is regarded the best footballer from Suriname of the 20th century. He is also regarded something as the Godfather of all footballplayers from Surinamese origine in Netherlands. He is also the only player who played both for Suriname against Netherlands and for Netherlands against Suriname.

According to following website about Curaçao FA 25 years jubilee tournament among the Colombian team, at least keeper Arbeláez, Mejía, Mendoza and captain Quintero had been in the Colombian squad for the 1945 South American championship in Santiago de Chile, where Colombia finished 5th out of 7 participants, Mendoza scoring in the 1-9 loss to Argentina. However, the above matches are not considered to be official international matches for Colombia. They used them as warming up for the 1946 Central American & Caribbean Games which they hosted.

As Colombia used their team as warming up for the 1946 Central American & Caribbean Games I decided to include the match against Colombia as well.

Following part is interesting. The Suriname 2-9 Holland match was not played on 29-09-1954 but on 30-07-1958. The Dutch did not played with their full A-national team. Only Moulijn (at the time 21 years old), Fransen (22) and Kruiver (20) were or became Dutch A-national team players later. So it looks like Holland fielded a youth team.
